ABCs of Earth: Q is for Quit Wasting Food

Can you believe that each year Americans waste approximately 33 million tons of food? And as food decays in landfills it produces methane, which is a potent greenhouse gas. Cutting down on portion sizes may seem easy, but without the proper tools it can become an unsustainable feat—especially when it comes to kids meals. Luckily, there are lunchboxes out there that are divided into perfectly portioned sections! Rule of thumb: half of their lunch should be veggies and then a quarter lean protein and a quarter healthy grains. Portion sizes depend on your child's age, activity level and gender.
